Need and feasibility of the development plan for Blaarmeersen

The design of a development plan for the Blaarmeersen architectural chamber (Ghent) is not a conventional planning task. The site combines top-level sport, recreation, urban functions and landscape ambitions in one place. This requires more than just design. It requires objective analysis, scenario thinking and feasible choices that will stand the test of time on the ground.

Without objective grounds, such a project risks getting bogged down. Too many functions. Too little space. No clear priorities. That is precisely why an approach was chosen in which data, research and feasibility guide the layout plan.

Within this project, DataD contributed to the substantive and strategic substantiation of the layout plan, focusing on programme, needs and financial feasibility. In this way, the spatial vision was translated into a decision-making framework for policy and investment.
